Find Your Perfect Fit

A precise, jeweller-grade guide to sizing every piece — so each ring, bangle and chain sits exactly as it was meant to.

For the Hand

Ring Sizes

Two simple ways to measure at home — then match to the chart.

01

The String Method

Wrap a thin strip of paper or thread around the base of your finger. Mark where it overlaps, lay it flat against a ruler, and read the length in millimetres — that's your inner circumference. Measure two or three times and take the average.

Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are largest
02

An Existing Ring

Take a ring that already fits the intended finger and measure the inner diameter across the middle in millimetres. Match that figure to the diameter column below.

Most adult women in India fall between sizes 9 and 14 — size 12 is the most common.

For the Wrist

Bangles & Bracelets

Bangle sizing is measured by the inner diameter your hand must pass through.

01

Measure Your Hand

Bring your thumb to meet your little finger, as if slipping on a bangle. Wrap a measuring tape around the widest part of this folded hand to get the circumference, then divide by 3.14 for the diameter.

Keep the tape snug, not tight
02

For Bracelets

Measure around your wrist bone with a tape, then add 1.5–2 cm for a comfortable drape. Most chain bracelets at Alankar feature an adjustable clasp within a Small / Medium / Large range.

Add room so the piece moves freely

For the Ears

Earring Styles

Earrings aren't sized to the ear — they're chosen by drop and proportion.

Studs & Tops

Sit flush on the lobe with little to no drop. Measured by face diameter — typically 6–12 mm. The most versatile choice for daily wear.

Hoops & Bali

Sized by outer diameter. Small hoops sit 15–25 mm; statement bali and chandbali range 40 mm and beyond for a fuller silhouette.

Drops & Jhumkas

Measured top-to-bottom from the earwire. We list the total drop on every product page so you can judge the fall against your face shape.

For the Ankle

Anklets & Payal

Anklets are sized by length — measured around the ankle, with room to move.

01

Measure Your Ankle

Wrap a measuring tape around your ankle, just above the ankle bone where the anklet will rest. Note the circumference, then add 1.5–2.5 cm so the piece sits comfortably rather than tight against the skin.

Sit with feet flat to measure naturally
02

The Adjustable Clasp

Most Alankar anklets include an extender chain so a single piece adapts across a range. If you're between two lengths, the longer size with the extender drawn in is the safer choice.

Pairs are matched to the same length

Small23.0Slim ankle
Medium25.5Standard / most common
Large28.0Broader ankle

An extender chain of about 2.5 cm is built into each anklet for a custom drape.

For the Nose

Nose Pins & Nath

Nose jewellery isn't sized to the nose — it's chosen by style and post type.

·

Nose Studs

Effectively one-size — the fine post (a straight push-pin, an L-bend, or a screw-style murki) is shaped to hold in your piercing. Standard pins use a thin 20–22 gauge wire.

Rings & Nath

Sized by outer diameter. Everyday hoops sit 8–15 mm; statement bridal nath range from 25 mm to 45 mm and beyond for a fuller, traditional silhouette.

Pierced or Press-On

No piercing? Press-on and clip-style nose pins and nath give the same look with no commitment — ideal for occasion wear. The style is noted on every product page.

Between two sizes?

Always choose the larger size — a piece that's a touch loose can be adjusted far more gracefully than one that's too tight. If you'd like a recommendation for a specific piece, our atelier is happy to help. Once your jewellery arrives, keep it lasting with our Care Guide.
